Be a Blessing, Not a Pest!

My kids are gearing up for a play at church.  Audrey and Grace will be singing a song called “Be a Blessing, Not a Pest”.  I have it memorized.  I’ve heard nothing else for the last two weeks or so (it’s okay Renee.  I forgive you).  In listening to the words, I was reminded of when my kiddos were little.  At one time I had 3 children under the age of 4.  I was extremely discouraged because I  felt like my social life was non-existent and I was pretty much confined to the house.  I pouted about it for awhile and finally came to the realization that there was a place for me to be a blessing to people from home.  My kids could be involved and I wouldn’t be sacrificing any of my precious time with them. I decided that I was going to build my own “ministry” through food.  That usually includes baking some cookies for anyone that might be on my heart that week or taking a meal to a mom that just needed a break.  I can tell you from personal experience that most mom’s won’t turn down the offer for someone to bring them a home cooked meal.  They would love to have a break!  And it is amazing how a plate of cookies or a dozen cupcakes can make somebody’s day.

My challenge to you is to BE A BLESSING! Find a tired mom, lonely elderly couple or friend to reach out to this week.  For those of you that cook for your family every night, make a little extra to share.  It doesn’t have to be expensive or fancy.  It just needs to be from your heart.

  1. Have I told you lately how much I love you, my friend? You have been a blessing to me since the moment we “met” (virtually met, that is). You know this has been a year of tears and joy for me and I have recently had the opportunity to, hopefully, be a blessing for some young people that are going through major life changes themselves. Thanks for the reminder that the little things matter!
